介紹 Introduction

After knowing the 42 main letter sounds, it is time to learn how to blend the sounds together to read and write new words. At the same time, our teachers will help them to identify the sounds in words. When you can identify sounds in words and sentences, you are well on your way to becoming literate, and it is also a start to improve spelling.

The program is split into 3 stages, 16 sessions per stage, 1.5 hours per session. By the end of this program, they should be able to read short stories and write short sentences by themselves.

對象:K2~P3

Stage A

An introduction to reading for young students. We focus on decoding short 2-4 letter words, by blending sounds together to form words. Students learn some new words every week. At this stage, we will focus on short vowel and beginning blend sounds. We will also revise and strengthen their knowledge of the letter sounds which they have learnt from the Jolly Phonics course.

Stage B

After finishing Stage A, the next stage will focus on vowel digraphs, long vowel sounds and ending consonant sounds.  There are more written exercises in addition to weekly word lists to strengthen their blending skills and sound recognition ability. At the end of the stage, students should be able to read short sentences and spell simple words on their own.

Stage C

At this last stage, we will feature a review of all the vowels, beginning and ending consonants. At the same time, students will begin to read longer stories and passages to practice their reading skills. Exercises will be given after each story to test their ability of understanding and to develop their writing skills. At the end of the stage, students should be able to read short stories and write short sentences.
